The Major Atom AA team win the Kawartha Lakes Tournament.
The Major Atom Kings travelled to Peterborough this past weekend to compete in the Kawartha Lakes Atom Tournament. After a four game round robin the kings found themselves in first place in their pool with wins over Peterborough, Stoney Creek, Westmall Lightning and a tie against the London jr Knights. The boys showed patience, poise and tremendous team play throughout the round robin building towards the semi finals. In the semis the boys struck twice in the first 23 seconds to take a 2-0 lead and eventually a 6-0 win with Gavin Mccarthy earning a shutout in the semis. The finals was a little tougher but the boys built a 3-0 lead and contolled the play. Dax Easter shut the door in the third with some great saves and the boys finished the game and the tournament with a 3-1 victory. Only giving up three goals the entire tournament the Major Atom Kings were solid starting between the pipes with both goalies making big saves and getting key whistles all weekend. From the Defence to the forwards the team play was exceptional and the play without the puck was outstanding. The entire coaching staff are extremely proud of the effort put in all weekend and the team earned everything.
