New novice hockey program showcased -
The Edwardsburgh Community Centre in Spencerville hosted the Ontario East Minor Hockey League’s first Major Novice A Welcome Day on Saturday. Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Deputy Mayor John Hunter (centre) drops the puck for Tristan Monroe (left) of the Seaway Valley Rapids and Ethan Wooller of the Rideau St. Lawrence Kings at the official opening. This is the highest level of novice hockey that players can achieve within the Ottawa District Minor Hockey Association. The showcase event included five Major Novice A and four Minor Atom A teams from throughout the region. Parents and spectators were asked to bring non-perishable items to the Spencerville arena; they were donated to Food For All Food Bank.
